Around the world in 100 stamps: 4: Italy

The staff at the main post office in Venice were not particularly friendly. Not to not Italian speaking foreigners. Italy is very hot. It really is. Espresso is very good. I drank my first Aperol Spritz. Waiting at a bus station my group read aloud Wachen! Wachen! (German Guards! Guards!). Discworlds Lord Vetinari would perfectly fit in Venice which is in fact very beautiful. I wonder if Sir Terry Pratchett thought about the smell which evaporates from Venices many water canals when he thought about the river Ankh. I certainly did. Venice is very beautiful but it stinks. I remember enjoying a very good pizza with ham and ruccola looking at one of the many bridges with even more steps. A man was carrying a huge dog up and down the stairs.
